Bafana Bafana forward Phakamani Mahlambi’s Al Ahly side has made history after securing their 40th Egyptian Premier League title on Monday evening with six weeks to spare.
Hossam El Badry’s side were crowned as champions after the 0-0 draw between Al Masry and Entag El Harby handed the Red Devils an unassailable lead at the summit of the league standings.
“We played an extraordinary season and that makes me very happy, as we won the title with six weeks to spare,” El Badry told the club’s website, as he now sets his sights on the treble.
“Our main objective now is to win the Egyptian Cup and the African Champions League, after we lost the final last year.”
Mahlambi contributed one goal and registered five assists in six starts and 11 overall appearances – since joining the Egyptian giants from Bidvest Wits in September 2017.
