Former Ajax and Inter Milan manager Frank de Boer has sensationally hit back at Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho following their last-16 UEFA Champions League exit to Sevilla.

Following their recent spat over the opinion of Mourinho’s coaching of forward Marcus Rashford, the Red Devils boss branded De Boer as ‘the worst manager in Premier League history.’

However, the former Crystal Palace boss reserved a stinging response towards the beleaguered coach who is facing intense criticism over the Premier League giants style of play.

“I may be the worse manager in the history of Premier League,” De Boer said after the 2-1 defeat to Sevilla, as quoted by Calcio Mercato.

“But he is the manager that spent roughly £1b (R16.4b) in his career and makes his teams play like that.”
