Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho opened up about his half-time team talk and what he told playmaker Paul Pogba before his inspirational second-half performance in the 3-2 comeback victory in the Manchester Derby.

Manchester City were cruising at half-time with a 2-0 lead at the Etihad, only 45 minutes away from securing their 15th consecutive home victory and the Premier League title in record fashion with six games to spare.

But Pogba who had an underwhelming first-half display had other ideas and led the Red Devils to a famous victory with a quickfire brace in a 90 second period and Chris Smalling completed the comeback from a brilliant set-piece routine.

Speculation led to media to believe Mourinho used the famous 'hairdryer treatment' that was so effective for former coach Sir Alex Ferguson to evoke such a response - but the Portuguese tactician claimed otherwise.

"I told Matic, Herrera and Pogba they cannot improve a lot from what they did in the first half," Mourinho told Sky Sports, insinuating the Citizens midfield were a class above them. "They had confidence to play, to pass through the lines.

"I was asking more from my central defenders to play with the ball because they were a little shaky with the ball at their feet. I needed more from my wingers to come inside and give more solutions to our midfield players.

"So we improve in the second half with that, I was not asking Paul to improve because I was already happy with what he was doing in the first half," Mourinho added.

"I'm really pleased for him, if it's true his agent has tried to offer him to other clubs his price has just gone up."
