Ryan Chapman is hoping to get some game time at his new National First Division club before the end of the season.
The 30-year old Cape Town born player resurfaced at Royal Eagles and was left on the bench during their 1-1 draw against his former club Stellenbosch FC at Athlone Stadium yesterday.
Stellies released the former Santos player in February after just six months into his one-year contract. Eagles, who have had a difficult season in the second tier, snapped him up in February. He signed a deal until the end of the season.
“Yeah, it’s a good move for me,” Chapman tells KickOff.com. “I’m here until the end of the season and I’m hoping to get some game and to add some value,” Chapman adds.
The visitors took the lead in the first haf through a dubious penalty that was converted by Boikanyo Komane.
The home side showed more intent after the break and was rewarded when Tinashe Makanda restored parity for Steve Barker’s troops with a thunderous shot from inside the penalty area.
Both sides had chances to put the game to bed, but wasted decent opportunities in front goal.
Eagles stood firm to survive a late onslaught from Stellenbosch to earn an away point, but will be left disappointed as they had the better chances to put the game to bed in the second period.
