Mamelodi Sundowns mentor Pitso Mosimane rates Siphesihle Ndlovu highly and believes the Maritzburg United midfielder should win the PSL Young Player of the Season accolade.

Ndlovu, 21, is among the contenders for the prestigious KICK OFF Footballer of the Season prize, while he is expected to also challenge for individual honours at the PSL's annual awards.

While Maritzburg coach Fadlu Davids has ruled out selling any of his star players to Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates, Mosimane makes no secret about his admiration for Ndlovu.

"Ja again, the cheerleaders say Ndlovu must win the Player of the Year," said Mosimane, who feels the PSL awards should be a celebration of excellence and not an act of charity.

"I love Ndlovu. That player [I] would like in my team.

"He is a very good football player. He is a nice boy. Let's give him prospect of the year.

"Let's appreciate and give him Young Player of the Year because he has done exceptionally well.

"Don't forget [Lebohang] Maboe, he has also been very good," Mosimane added of Ndlovu's teammate.
