Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lebohang Maboe is on a mission to get into good spaces in the opposition box and score more goals for the defending Absa Premiership champions.
Since joining Sundowns from Maritzburg United, Maboe has found the back of the net on two occasions, against Polokwane City and Golden Arrows. He could have had a third goal for Sundowns in the clash against Bloemfontein Celtic at Dr Molemela Stadium on Wednesday, but his effort was ruled offside, though coach Pitso Mosimane disagreed with the decision.
Maboe has been doing well for Sundowns and has even earned himself a call-up for Bafana Bafana’s crucial 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Seychelles.
“Yes, definitely. I am looking to better the tally of goals I scored last season. I just want to help the team do good and help them win trophies,” Maboe, who scored five times for Maritzburg last season, tells KickOff.com.
Mosimane is a big fan of midfielders who can contribute with goals, so he encourages them to get into scoring positions.
“It is what they are actually stressing. If I get into the right positions, I can score a lot of goals. That’s what I am getting to understand now and I am getting to get into those good scoring opportunities.”
Sundowns will be in action against Bidvest Wits at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday (15h30).
