Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba left the field against Paris Saint-Germain visibly frustrated after his red card and details have since emerged about his reported outburst after the UEFA Champions League defeat.
The club-record signing of the Red Devils received his marching orders late on in the game at Old Trafford which marked interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first defeat at the helm and on the brink of a last-16 exit.
It marked the first time United have lost at home in Europe by more than one goal and in the second leg in Paris, they will be without their influential midfielder.
Pogba’s late challenge on veteran wing-back Dani Alves was adjudged to be a second bookable offence and according to The Sun, the Frenchman lost control of his emotions in the dressing room.
According to a United insider, the 2018 World Cup winner was ‘distraught’ about his performance and apologised to the rest of the team.
“He felt as if he had let them down and he is now gutted to be missing the second leg,” the source revealed. “He banged his locker in anger several times.”
The 25-year-old has scored 13 goals and registered nine assists in 31 games across all competitions this season
