Kaitano Tembo’s troops have turned the corner in the Absa Premiership after claiming a third straight league victory on Wednesday night.

“You know we’ve been working very hard at training, you can see our intensity is back. Everyone who wears the Blue jersey at SuperSport [United] can be proud of himself. Everyone fought hard tonight,” Daniels said on SuperSport TV.

“Even the goal I scored, the coach told me if the delivery is right and you’re in the right area you’re going to score. We’ve been [practicing it], we saw that there’s gaps there. Well done to the coach for giving us these opportunities. What a game! This is the SuperSport we all know. Kaitano Tembo thank you for that one, we scored.

“We played with more pride, we wore the badge on our hearts. Even at training, for the past three to four weeks everyone has been fighting. Even the guys who are upstairs who travelled with us, if it was not for them the performance was not going to be like this because they pushed us.”

The veteran defender explained the reason behind their slump midway through the season and said they stand a good chance of challenging for the league title if they improve their consistency.

“We had a bit of a hiccup with injuries, a lot of injuries in the crucial time of the season. We brought in two players who were going to bring value to the team and competition. Today you saw Jamie Webber standing in for Teboho Mokoena, he played a very good game. I’m proud of him. If the competition can stay like this then we can improve as a team.

“We must stay in the [chasing] pack, we know what happened with Sundowns last night, 1-1. We’re looking [up on the table] but we’re not putting ourselves ahead of ourselves. So we’re just taking it simple. One game a time, stay in the [chasing] pack maybe the last three games or so we can creep in, you never know. With performances like this, week in and week out, we give ourselves a chance,” he said.
