Orlando Pirates midfielder Ben Motshwari has played down suggestions that they could look to avenge their Nedbank Cup opening round defeat when they play Black Leopards tonight.

The Buccaneers are set to host Lidoda Duvha at the Orlando Stadium in the only domestic fixture this evening (19h30) and could open up a three-point lead at the top of the Absa Premiership table.

Coming off a fortunate 1-0 victory over Bidvest Wits at the weekend, Motshwari has now called on his teammates to turn all their attention towards this next task at hand, while warning that the Limpopo outfit cannot be taken lightly.

“The win over Wits is now behind us, we cannot dwell on that performance for too long because we have another challenge on our hands which is Black Leopards,” said Motshwari on his club’s website.

“We have to be at our best on Wednesday night because this is a team that cannot be underestimated. Coming into this game the focus is solely on the three points on offer and nothing else.”

The diminutive workhorse further insisted that their penalty shootout defeat at the Thohoyandou Stadium that saw them exit the Nedbank Cup back in January will play no part in their minds this evening.

“We don’t have to come into this match and talk about revenge [for the Nedbank Cup loss] or things like that,” he added.

“This is a different competition with very different objectives and that’s the mentality we are carrying into this match.”
