Benik Afobe: Bristol City striker to miss season with knee injury




Benik Afobe joined Wolves in January 2015 having started his career with ArsenalBristol City striker Benik Afobe is expected to miss the rest of the Championship season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury.The 26-year-old, who joined the Robins on loan from Stoke City in the summer, injured his knee in training this week.”It was one of those freak accidents that occasionally happen and his knee went with no-one near him,” head coach Lee Johnson told the club website.”We are disappointed as we were excited about what he could bring this season.”Former Arsenal, Wolves and Bournemouth forward Afobe has scored three goals in five games for the club.The club say his injury will require surgery and rehabilitation which is expected to take the rest of this season.”Benik is a strong person who will come back from this, and as a squad we are determined to be successful for him and ourselves,” Johnson added.
