Dar es Salaam — The Tanzania Share Index (TSI) closed 0.36 points up on Tuesday to 3,836.71 points from 3,836.37 points recorded during the previous day’s close.
The gain in the TSI was a result of appreciation of DSE share price by 2.44 per cent to Sh1,680 on Tuesday’s close from Sh1,640 recorded during the previous day.
However, the current share price was lower than a record high of Sh1,720 recorded in August, this year.
The DSE report during the day showed that the company recorded a turnover amounting to Sh49 million after transacting 29,700 shares in five deals at a price ranging between Sh1,640 and Sh1,700.
The total market turnover during the day was Sh52.9 million from 42,902 shares traded in 19 deals of which Sh49.77 million was injected by foreign investors through buying activities.
The report showed that 52.08 per cent of the value of shares sold was from foreign investors, while the remaining were floated by local investors.
On the buying side, 93.98 per cent of the value of bought shares was injected by foreign investors while local investors bought six per cent of the value of shares traded during the day.
The report has also shown that foreign investors dominated the market last month after injecting Sh1.2 billion out of total turnover of Sh2.3 billion, from buying shares and Sh419 million from selling shares.
Another active counter during the day was CRDB which transacted 11,760 shares valued Sh1.7 million in ten deals. The company share trading price was Sh145
NMB bank counter was also active during the day after recording Sh491,400 from the transaction 210 shares sold at Sh2,340, while Vodacom Tanzania traded 1,232 shares valued Sh985,600 at Sh800.
