DENVER (CBS4) – We are watching a moisture packed storm system flowing from northern California smack into the Colorado Rockies. This storm will be bringing loads of much-needed moisture into the state. With rain at lower elevations and heavy snow in the northern and central mountains.

In fact, some of the mountains may see a foot or more of heavy, wet, snow overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. This has prompted the issue of a Winter Storm Waring for mountains above 9,000 feet.

Up to a foot of snow is expected to fall above 10,000 feet overnight with some isolated pockets up to 18 inches possible. Along with the snow will be a sharp rise in the avalanche danger.
