A group of disgruntled African National Congress (ANC) members in the Bojanala region at Rustenburg in the North West has been awarded a court order to interdict both the ANC regional and provincial general councils, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday respectively.
The order was obtained from the North West High Court sitting late on Friday afternoon, following an urgent application.
Disgruntled ANC members were arguing against the exclusion of some delegates from various branches (which they regard as legitimate), from the provincial general council.
The Bojanala region is the largest in the province, and has always complained about what it refers to as interference by the Provincial Executive committee in its affairs.
The court order interdicts both the Regional council in Bojanala, and the Provincial council with ANC Secretary General, Gwede Mantashe as the first respondent, ANC Provincial secretary, Dakota Legoete and the Bojanala regional Task Team not to go ahead with the planned councils, until the matter is heard and finalised in court.
The respondents are also directed to exclude the participation of ANC branches in any meeting, conferences or councils.
