Steyn chauffeurs 2 pupils to school dance

Cape Town – Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn took two Cape Town pupils to their school dance this past weekend.

Steyn shared the heart-warming event on Instagram Stories and said that although he wasn’t planning on being in the country, duo to his injury, he decided to become their chauffeur for the evening.

The 35-year-old returned home last week from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after his right shoulder flared up.

His grand gesture soon made the rounds on social media.

Steyn is in a race against time to regain fitness ahead of the Cricket World Cup in England and Wales next month.

The star fast bowler will be assessed by a shoulder specialist and measures will be put in place to get him ready for the tournament.

The Proteas’ World Cup squad will assemble for their week-long camp on May 12.

South Africa’s first match at the tournament is against hosts England at The Oval on Thursday, May 30.
