Event organizers said in a statement posted on Twitter that the attacker “is known to police for orchestrating similar incidents in the past.” According to the statement, the man was handed over to local law enforcement, but Schwarzenegger is not pursuing charges.
Maybe that’s because according to the former bodybuilder and cyborg assassin, he didn’t even realize someone had tried to go all WWE on him.
“I thought I was just jostled by the crowd, which happens a lot. I only realized I was kicked when I saw the video like all of you. I’m just glad the idiot didn’t interrupt my Snapchat,” Schwarzenegger said on Twitter. (Apparently the Governator is still a big Snapchat guy.)
He asked his followers not to focus on the attacker, but instead to turn the spotlight on the 24,000 athletes participating in the multi-sport competition.
