PSL fixtures today

Highlands Park vs Kaizer Chiefs at Makhulong Stadium. Kick off at 15:00

The opening weekend of the new PSL season comes to a close on Sunday. All eyes will be in Thembisa, where Kaizer Chiefs take on Highlands Park at Makhulong Stadium. The match is the first step in a massive test for Ernst Middendorp, who couldn’t stop the slide as Amakhosi tumbled to an all-time low in the previous season.

Lamontville Golden Arrows vs Maritzburg United at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium. Kick off at 15:00

The day’s action also features a couple of derbies, and one of them is the all-KZN clash between Lamontville Golden Arrows and Maritzburg United. In the dugouts are two Bafana legends in Steve Komphela and Eric Tinkler. The match takes place at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont.

Black Leopards vs Polokwane City at Thohoyandou Stadium. Kick off at 15:00

Thohoyandou Stadium is ready in time this time around, and hosts the first Limpopo derby. Black Leopards and Polokwane City renew rivalries once more as they kick off their respective campaigns on Sunday. The hosts only just survived relegation on their return to the big time, while their opponents proved to be the season’s surprise package with a fifth-place finish.

ICC World Test Championship today

England vs Australia 1st Test at Edgbaston: Day 4 starts at 11:30

The first Ashes Test between England and Australia goes into its fourth day on Sunday. The two old foes kicked off the inaugural edition of the ICC World Test Championship. Some light rainfall forecast around the ground, but fans of the gentlemen’s game will be hoping it does not play spoilsport.

Moto2 GP main race

South Arica’s Brad Binder will be lining up in the Moto2 class of the MotoGP in the Czech Republic on Sunday. Qualifying was done and dusted on Saturday, and t’s time for the main race to take centre stage. The Grand Prix begins at 12:05 and will be broadcast live on Supersport 5.

Meanwhile, the Premier Soccer League kicked off on Saturday and, as things stand, three unanswered goals against AmaZulu put Bidvest Wits on top of the standings, followed by Orlando Pirates, who also scored a convincing win over Bloemfontein Celtic, while defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns are close by, following a 2-0 victory against Supersport United in the Tshwane Derby.
