South Africa v Wales: Teams, kickoff time, prediction, livestream for Rugby World Cup semifinal

South Africa are favourites for their Rugby World Cup semifinal against Wales.

South Africa are favourites for their Rugby World Cup semifinal against Wales.

Wales will attempt to qualify for their first Rugby World Cup final, but face staunch opposition from South Africa.

The Springboks ground Japan down in their quarterfinal win with ruthless forward play, while Wales needed a red card and a bit of refereeing controversy to get past France.

South Africa have won 28 of the 35 matches between these two teams (with one draw), but Wales have won the last four in a row dating back to 2015, when South Africa knocked Wales out of that year’s World Cup at the quarterfinal stage.

Sunday’s match in Yokohama is expected to be a tight contest.

Prediction (Liam Hyslop): Wales only just did enough to beat a poor French side in the quarters, while South Africa looked like they’d developed a winning, if not a little boring, gameplan against Japan. They should be able to grind Wales down for a 10-point win.
